Bennett, Elizabeth

Associate Commissioner

MA Dept of Elementary and Secondary Education

Elizabeth Bennett has worked in vocational technical education for the past 20 years. She is a graduate of Tufts University with a C.A.G.S in Urban Justice and Sustainability and a Masters Degree from Rivier College in Nashua in Educational Administration. She began her work as an administrator at Greater Lowell Technical High School and advanced her role to Director of Grants, Community, and Workforce Development at Greater Lawrence Technical School. In her two years at Greater Lawrence, she secured over a million dollars in competitive grant funding to enhance the school’s educational services. She has worked with local agencies, postsecondary institutions, businesses, and industries to build partnerships to provide workforce training needs. Elizabeth now serves as the Associate Commissioner of College, Career, and Technical Education at the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Elizabeth has served on a number of committees in the community including the Massachusetts State Apprenticeship Advisory Board and Steering Committee to the Secretary of Labor, the Merrimack Valley Workforce Investment Board Youth Council, and the Advisory Board for the Graduate School of Education at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. She was a member of the Massachusetts Association of Vocational Administrators. Elizabeth also served as a trustee for Methuen Memorial Music Hall.

Elizabeth resides in Newburyport with her husband Erik and their daughter Elizabeth.
