Citizens Inn, Inc.

Carolina is the newly appointed Executive Director of Citizens Inn, Inc. a comprehensive social service organization dedicated to breaking the patterns of instability that lead to homelessness and hunger. This role is the culmination of more than two decades of experience working in the human services, non-profit sector, including leadership roles at Essex Media Group, the Latin American Health Institute and Blue Cross/Blue Shield Massachusetts. Carolina received the 2019 Latinx Excellence on the Hill Award by the Massachusetts Black and Latino Legislative Caucus and was recently recognized by Amplify Latinx as a 2021 Outstanding Latina Leader in Massachusetts.

Carolina Trujillo is a native of Cali, Colombia, and has been a Boston resident for the past 24 years. She is a self-motivated, passionate and well-organized leader who enjoys watching sports, dancing salsa and spending time with her only son Sebastian.

Carolina’s other civic work is extensive, including working as a group facilitator for multiple Intimate Partner Abuse Education Programs as well as sitting on the Board of Directors for the Northeast Hospital Corporation - Beth Israel Lahey Health, YMCA of Metro North, Northeast Arc, and the North Shore Maritime Center. She is a committee member of the Lynn Education District, Lynn Latino Leadership Coalition, Impact Lynn, Mass Development TDI, Lynn Business Partnership,, Lynn Rapid Response Team, Stop the Violence Lynn, The Daily Item Advisory Board and Amplify Latinx.

Carolina holds a Bachelors’ degree in Journalism-Mass Communications from Universidad Autónoma de Occidente and dual Master’s degrees from Suffolk University in Public Administration and Political Science with a concentration in International Relations. She is also a graduate of the 2019 cohort of Hispanas Unidas for Political Equality (H.O.P.E.) Public Service Fellowship Binational program, where a total of 16 Latinas living in the US and Mexico were selected to participate.
