DANIEL F. CAHILL (D-Lynn) has served as State Representative of the City of Lynn, Massachusetts in the 10th Essex District since 2016. He is the Chairman on the House Committee on Human Resources and Employee Engagement. Previously, Dan served as the Vice-Chairman on the Joint Committee on the Environment and Natural Resources . As a member of the Legislature, Dan focuses on constituent service legislative priorities, such as veteran services, criminal justice reforms, public education funding, access to housing, elder care, and energy policy. Dan focuses on poverty issues and is driven to provide equal opportunity for all Massachusetts residents as well as protecting its most vulnerable residents.
Before joining the Massachusetts Legislature, Dan served five terms as a Councilor At-Large in the City of Lynn, Massachusetts, including three years as City Council President. He is credited with spearheading a major overhaul of Lynn’s zoning, which lead to increased business and residential development.
Dan is a graduate of Northeastern University (BS), Suffolk University (MS), and Suffolk Law School (JD).
Dan lives in Lynn with his wife Angela and two children, Charlotte and Will. Dan belongs to several community organizations in Lynn including the Lynn Museum, Friends of Lynn/Nahant Beach, Ancient Order of Hibernians, Friendly Knights of St. Patrick, Flax Pond Association, and Greater Lynn Bar Association.
